Our production facility.
Depending on the type of candle, up to 6000 items per hour can be produced here.

The wick.
This is the first thing introduced into the shell. Preliminary tests determine the required wick thickness
{{thumb50}}
The wick holders.
These are the small metal plates use to fix the wicks within the shell.
{{thumb50}}
The wick is clipped to the wick holder and cut to length, a dot of adhesive is then applied to the underside of the wick holder and the wick holder together with the wick are subsequently stuck down to the floor of the shell.
{{thumb50}}
The shells are ready to be filled.
{{thumb50}}
Our computerised control centre.

The prepared shells pass this on their way to be filled. It can be used to control various parameters for the production system at the click of a mouse (e.g. filling temperatures, belt speeds, etc.).
{{thumb50}}
Filling.

On their circuit, the shells are filled with liquid vegetable oil.
{{thumb50}}
The filled shells are conveyed to the next station: to wick centring. On the way there, the oil crystallises; it becomes pasty.
{{thumb50}}
Wick centring.

The requirement for centring the wick is not just down to looks. Much more important is that this prevents the shell from burning and allowing oil to escape.
{{thumb50}}
Quality control.

Despite the most up-to-date technology: there is no avoiding human intervention. Before the candles harden, they are subjected to critical inspection by our staff. Any small faults are corrected by hand.
{{thumb50}}
Cooling.

The lamps are sent through a cooling tunnel to accelerate hardening of the oil.
{{thumb50}}
Trimming the wick.

The wick has to be trimmed to the correct length before a lid label can be applied.
{{thumb50}}
The lid label.

Reeled up onto huge cylinders at the label dispenser, the lid labels await deployment.
{{thumb50}}
The side label.

Next the side label is applied with a quick rotation and then it’s off to packaging.
{{thumb50}}
Packaging.

In each case the box is automatically folded and glued around twenty candles standing in rank and file.
{{thumb50}}
Palletisation.

The gripper arm places the ready packed box at its predetermined position on the pallet. Once the pallet is full it is automatically pushed onto the palletizer.
{{thumb50}}
The warehouse.

This is where our finished pallets await dispatch.
